Prior to our purchase agreement for my BDI lateral file cabinet we agreed that I would be allowed to be present when the retail packaging was opened for my file cabinet. I request this to prevent receiving damaged or “open box” items when I pay retail. After long experience in Florida I know that if you don’t do this you will receive an open box or damaged item at retail prices. I had three 2500-dollar Bosch dishwashers arrive damaged to my home last year until that retail company delivered an undamaged dishwasher. Each time they stated that I wouldn’t see it and it wouldn’t affect operation of the unit. I don’t pay retail for damaged or open box items. ISIDRO kindly agreed to this prior to payment. This was the ONLY precondition of sale with plenty of email evidence that this was understood. For this sale, the two male owners handed me off to their newest employee who told me this was her first ever sale with the company. Being military, I pointed out that her phone procedures would benefit from answering the phone with her name. During purchases you’re always asked, “who told you that information”, or, “who did you speak with”. She actually thanked me for taking the time to give her professional advice. Evidently this email incensed the two male owners but they didn’t have the character to tell me about their displeasure (SECRET STRIKE ONE!). So after two months of waiting the new employee couldn’t tell me when the cabinet was due to arrive other than a week long window due to, “BDI’s new shipping company”. The owners were obviously not helping this new employee. This required that I call BDI to ask why their authorized dealership did not have tracking. I have a heavy travel schedule and would likely have to find a vehicle for the cabinet. BDI stated ISIDRO knows how to get tracking and they would call them. One of the owners finally but rudely gave me tracking (SECRET STRIKE TWO!). The incompetence at this store was now confirmed. So every time I called in they answered, “ISIDRO Design”, and I had to begin asking, “who’s this!”, because I never knew with whom I was speaking (SECRET STRIKE THREE!). I then received an email telling me the BDI had arrived along with the dimensions of the box and realized it would not fit my car so I called to confirm the dimensions. There might have been an outer box, right? Or maybe I didn’t need to take the box with me? But don’t dare ask dimensions of a box with them more than once! This was actually thrown in my face later during their 10-minute verbal assault in their loading dock like it was somehow insulting to check. Finally, on pickup day, I borrowed a friends Toyota 4-Runner and drove the 1.5 hrs only to experience the expected cold shoulder from the owners. I was walked into the back only to be told to go out the front and drive around (obvious jerk around). I walked up their loading dock to see opened box and the BDI sitting on the retail packaging underneath it – an obvious sign of resentment and the definition of an “open-box” item. Truncated/Reply to the below: Quote from Mary prior to my departure on pickup day: “The cabinet will not be opened until you arrive per our agreement”. The company is flat out lying. No “closed box agreement” was needed because I was taking an inspected cabinet home. They knew this. They simply hatched out a scheme to get me to drive out over an hour and violate our agreement to get revenge because: 1. I advised their new young employee to answer the phone with her name; 2. When the new employee told me she could not get tracking after two months I called BDI for an answer; 3. Each subsequent call I I asked who I was speaking with; and finally, 4. When I arrived I asked, “why the ‘f’ is this opened”. They are a pathetic company with nothing but lies.
